Battery
The warranty covers mechanical failures and defects in workmanship.
A battery is a consumable product, and its ability to store the same amount of energy decreases over time.

Spare parts
The warranty period for spare parts is 6 (six) months. This does not apply on spare parts used for warranty repairs or consumable parts.

Practical
• All servicing of the Product during the Warranty Period, should be made by an authorized Greenworks service dealer in order for the Warranty to apply (or by equal professional service provider).

• If the end user suspects that a unit with a possible defect could be covered by factory warranty, shall the end user return the defect product to the point of purchase for warranty evaluation.
For some countries and in certain cases the Product may be forwarded to a central service center by the authorized Greenworks service dealer. In such cases the Commercial Party or the Consumer (as applicable) shall ensure that the Product is prepared and packed safely without any hazardous contents, either by him-/herself or through the authorized Greenworks service dealer together with a detailed description of the experienced defect.
Except as provided in this Warranty and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Greenworks is not responsible for any direct, special, incidental or consequential damages, resulting from any breach of warranty of condition, or under any other legal theory, including but not limited to loss of use, loss of revenue, loss of actual or anticipated profits (including loss of profits on contracts), loss of anticipated savings, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of reputation or any indirect or consequential loss or damage howsoever caused including the replacement of parts or the Product.
The foregoing limitation shall not apply to death or personal injury claims, or any statutory liability for intentional and gross negligent acts and/or omissions.

Battery guide

Introduction

All Globe Tools batteries produced today are Lithium-Ion batteries. They are basically the same as used in laptop computers, tablets, electric cars and more.

The battery delivers high power from full to empty. A huge benefit compared to i.e., conventional car batteries is that they only drain out a very small amount during storage, a fully charged battery can be stored over 20 years without losing all its power.  The battery also does not get damaged if completely drained during storage.

Self-diagnosis

The battery makes internal checking of cells and circuits from time to time, if the battery is left with very low charge level for longtime storage, the self-diagnosis may drain the battery to a “low safety limit”, were the Battery Management System (BMS) puts the battery in “recovery mode” to keep it safe (See below description how to get the battery out from “recovery mode”).

Storage

For general storage always store the battery indoors in a non- humid environment. Store the battery between +5C to +45C. Avoid direct sunlight, chemicals, heat radiation and other hostile environments.

The battery does not need to be recharged during longtime storage as described above.

Lifetime

A battery that is “normally” used can last for more than 1000 cycles. A cycle is when the battery goes from fully charged to empty and back to fully charged again. A battery is to consider as a consumable product and will eventually lose its ability to store the same amount of energy as when it was new.

New battery

A new battery is charged up to 30% when delivered.

There is a “run in period” for a new battery, it will reach its full capacity after 8-10 cycles.

Temperature

Warm and cold temperatures affect the battery. The normal usage span is -20C to +45C. The battery can be used below and above these limits, but the BMS may shut the battery down to avoid it from being damaged. The usage time will be shorter in cold conditions.

If the BMS shuts off the battery store the battery in above mentioned temperature span for approx. 30 minutes to allow it to return to working temperature.

Charging

The battery can be recharged no matter the power it holds for the moment. To charge it when at i.e. 40% or 75% does not affect the battery negatively.

The charger will sense the status of the battery and charge it accordingly.

Please see the charger’s manual for details about status indicators, as they may vary.

Allow a battery that is warm from usage to cool down before recharging. Some chargers have internal fans to cool the battery when charging, but the battery may still need to cool on its own first.

The battery will be warm when charging.

Be sure to press the battery all the way into the charger until “click”.

Charge the battery between temperature +5C and +45C (keep out of direct sunlight).

When the battery reaches 100% charge the charger stop the charging.

Recovery mode

If the battery is completely drained and does not take “normal” charge it might be in recovery mode. In that case place the battery in the charger for 20h. The charger will “recover” the battery and after this the battery will work and charge as normal. This does not affect the lifetime of the battery. The charger also shows normal charging, the green light flashes.

Usage

When in use the battery will get warm. The more power that is required the warmer the battery will get. This is normal. The BMS will shut the battery if it gets too warm to protect it.

Allow the battery to cool down before recharging.

Troubleshooting

If the battery does not charge under normal circumstances, please make sure that:

  • The charger works.
  • The battery is fully inserted in the charger (click sound).
  • The ambient temperature is between stated values.

If above does not solve the issue, then allow the battery to go through the recovery recharge mentioned above. If this does not wake up the battery it might be subject for factory warranty, if still within the warranty period (see warranty terms and conditions).

Recycling

Globe Tools participates in recycling processes in each region where we have sales.  Globe Tools contributes to public recycling stations via an annual fee. The batteries contain valuable material that will be recycled in the battery recycling process.

Globe Tools does not recommend trying to repair damaged batteries.

Go green, use Globe Tools products, and recycle.
